Pearl Martin, 83, of 1428 Reading Rd., Bowmansville, formerly of Lauschtown Rd., Denver, died Monday, December 19, 2011 at Ephrata Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Martin, in 1998. Born in Martindale, she was the daughter of the late Harry Jacob and Frances S. (Wenger) Shirk. Pearl was an examiner for Terre Hill Manufacturing which then became SLC Fashions. A member of Bethany Grace Fellowship Church, she enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, needlework, bowling, and crossword puzzles. Surviving are two daughters: Pauline F. married to Richard Hoshour, Denver and Carol A. married to Roy D. Becker, with whom she resided; two grandsons: Bryce Hoshour and David married to Adrienne Becker; three great grandchildren: Allyssa, Eric, and Jason; and six siblings: Charles M. married to Pearl Shirk, Ephrata; Dorothy married to Andrew Martin, Reinholds; Willis Shirk, New Holland; LaReta Sandoe, New Holland; Miriam married to Larry Brendle, Terre Hill and Beulah Shirk, Terre Hill. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorraine Martin and four siblings: Alberta Gehman, Helen Good, Luke Shirk and Carroll Shirk. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, December 22 at 10 AM at Muddy Creek Lutheran Church, 11 S. Muddy Creek Rd., Denver with Pastor Paul Smeltz officiating. Interment will be in Bethany Grace Fellowship Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the Eckenroth Home for Funerals, 209 E. Main St., Terre Hill on Wednesday from 6 8 PM and at the church on Thursday from 9 10 AM.
