Aileen Galligan

Aileen Galligan, 92, of New Holland, formerly of Churchtown, died Wednesday, July 9, 2014 after a brief illness at Garden Spot Village, New Holland.

Born in Norwood, PA, she was the daughter of Lester and Florence (Roache) Smith. Her husband, John H. Galligan, died Jan. 29, 1994.

Aileen worked with her husband in the Plumbing and Heating business, John Galligan & Sons, in Bryn Mawr and later she worked for All Star Services in Malvern.

Aileen enjoyed music.

Surviving are five children, Peggy, married to Richard Burkholder of Springfield, VA, Andy, married to Mary Ann (Styer) Galligan of Narvon, John, married to Mariann (Newman) Galligan of Pottstown, David, married to Patty (Dennes) Galligan of Lancaster, and Claire, married to Tom Kratz of Spring City; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; two sisters, Florence Loughran of Youngstown, NY, and Peggy O’Brien of Media; and a brother, Lester Smith of Florida.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12 at 10:30 am at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, with the Chaplain Chet Yoder officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Garden Spot Village with a note stating the donation to be used for Musical Entertainment expenses for the residents of the Laurel View Memory Unit.
