Alan James Stone, 54, was called home to glory on Monday, March 4th, 2024 in Morgantown, PA. He was born on July 24th, 1969 in Greenville, SC to Thomas and Barbara Stone.
Alan is survived by his wife, Amy (Lang); his children, Dwight and Hannah (Schmidtke), Colin and Tiffany (Dilworth), and Samantha; his parents, Thomas and Barbara (Clark); his brothers, David and Jeffery; his sisters, Catherine (Laboski) and Rebecca (Clark); his grandchildren, Rowenna, Barrett, Gwendolynn, with a fourth grandchild expected soon; and his seventeen nieces and nephews, with seven great-nieces and nephews. Alan was preceded in death by his sister Sharon, who died in infancy.
Alan graduated from High Point Baptist Academy in 1987 and remained a passionate learner, attaining his associate’s degree in mechanical engineering from Penn State University, his bachelor’s degree in Information Systems from the University of Phoenix, and his MBA from Drexel University. He earned all three while working full-time and raising his family. He went on to become an accomplished director of IT and project manager while also working as an adjunct professor of IT & business.
Alan was known for his steadfast demeanor, strong work ethic, and quick wit. His love for music, hiking the Appalachian Trail, spending time with family, reading and writing, movie nights, and sharing his smoked meats is fondly remembered and cherished by his friends and family. Within the community, Alan had served as a deacon in his church, a coach for his children's soccer and baseball teams, and invested his efforts in the missions and ministries of High Point.
A private family service will take place at Groff-High-Eckenroth in New Holland. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 23rd at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception and visitation with the family, at High Point Baptist Chapel, located at 200 Chapel Road in Geigertown, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gospel Mission of South America (GMSA) or 58ten. Alan faithfully supported the work that each mission strives to accomplish through Christ, all around the world. The family thanks you for your support and prayers during this time of mourning.
