Alexander V. Mcclintock

Alexander V. McClintock…

died Saturday, October 13 at Garden Spot Village, New Holland, PA. He was born in County Donegal, Ireland on Valentine’s Day, 1924. When he was four, he, his parents and five older brothers immigrated to the U.S. where they settled in the Philadelphia area.

After graduating from Lower Merion High School, he enlisted in the Army Air Force and was assigned to the Air Transport Command, flying to 21 countries on four continents before being honorably discharged in 1946.

Alex attended Temple University and had a 32 year career, first as an installer with Bell Telephone of PA and retiring as a major project manager from AT&T.

As a youth, he was a Life Scout and a Jr. Assistant Scout Master and later, was active in community affairs, serving in the American Legion, and as treasurer of the Narberth Borough School Authority and Narberth Improvement Endeavor. As a 76 year member of the Narberth Presbyterian Church, he held offices as Deacon, Trustee and Elder and also served as Parish Visitor for a number of years.

His hobby was restoring and trading cars; he owned 88 during his 88 years. He wrote a memoir, Musings of a Fickle Car Nut, that detailed not only his many acquisitions but painted a slice-of-life picture of a man of his era.

Alex is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mildred (Knepperges); son Glenn (Rebecca) McClintock; daughter Leslie (Scott) Clement; seven grandchildren Gabriel (Dawn) McClintock, Autumn (Craig) McClintock, Suwanee (Mark) Lennon, Michael (Caitlin) Clement, Sarah, Emma and Willy Clement; and two great grandsons, Bryan and Tracey McClintock.

He was predeceased by parents Hannah (McCausland) and John McClintock; brothers David, John, Edward, Thomas and Robert; daughter-in-law Valerie; and grandson Scott.
