Alice M. Spotts, 89, a lifelong resident of New Holland, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Garden Spot Village.
She was married 70 years to Robert L. Spotts on January 30, 2024. Born in New Holland, she was the daughter of the late George S. and Mary M. Weaver Good.
Alice was a homemaker and a 1952 graduate of New Holland High School. When her children had completed school, she returned to the work force. She began serving as the Welcome Wagon representative for New Holland and worked part time at Lil-Boden Gift Shop at Kitchen Kettle Village. She was a lifetime member St Stephen UCC and St. Stephen Reformed Church where she served on many committees over the years. She had taught Sunday School and had worked with her husband with the youth groups in the church.
Alice was a charter member of the New Holland Area Woman’s Club, a volunteer and board member of the New Holland public library and a volunteer with the 4-H sewing club. She was an avid reader and participated in many book clubs. One of her interests was counted cross stitching which she won many ribbons for in the New Holland Fair. Bob and Alice enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the world. She loved the beach and was especially fond of Sunset Beach in NC.
Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Robert S. husband of Joanne Hill Spotts of Henrico, VA and Timothy L. husband of Teresa Saus Spotts of New Holland; a daughter, Megan M. wife of Michael L. Martin of Leola; 4 grandchildren, 1 step grandson, 3 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jeri Dougherty; and a niece She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Good.
The family would like to thank the staff in the Wintergarden Section at Garden Spot Village for the wonderful care given to Alice during her stay there.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 1, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Stephen Reformed Church, 249 E. Main St, New Holland, PA with Rev. Dr. Timothy Witmer officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. There will be a luncheon for friends and family following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St Stephen Reformed Church or CrossNet Ministries.
