Allen L. Depue

Allen L. DePue, 85, of 1517 Wisteria Dr., Lititz, formerly of River Bend Park, Lancaster and New Holland, died Thursday, December 26 at Landis Homes following a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Ethel A. (Groff) DePue and was preceded in death by his first wife, Alene (Jones) DePue in 1989.


Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late John E. and Lena (Fryberger) DePue.


Allen retired in 1985 after 37 years as a Topical Draftsman at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. During the Korean War, he served in the Marine Corps, also as a Topical Draftsman, and received the National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.


He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Strasburg, the Dutchland Polkateers, Lititz, participated with the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program, and enjoyed puzzles and traveling around the world.


Surviving in addition to his wife is a step-daughter, Yvonne married to Ken Davies, Ossining, NY, two step grandchildren: Margaret married to Goce Davidov and Samuel Davies, and a brother Carl F. married to Pat DePue, Lititz.


In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Smith and Mary DePue.


A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 2 at 12 Noon at the West Bethany Chapel of Landis Homes with Chaplain Donna Mack Shenk officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be at 10 a.m. at the Evangelical United Methodist Cemetery, New Holland.
