Allen R. Upton

Allen R. Upton, 83, of Bowmansville and Florida passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Landis Homes. He was married to Joyce (Hagerty) Upton, who preceded him in death in 1991.


Born in Aiken, MD, he was a son of the late Asa Carroll and Isabell (Clark) Upton.


Allen was a generous, kind and caring man with a great sense of humor. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. Later he owned and operated the Oak Creek Campground, and was a gifted handyman, manager, and host. In his spare time he enjoyed camping / traveling in his motorhome (throughout the US), fishing and sharing his entertaining life stories with friends and family. Allen was a real “people person” who loved and was loved by his family and friends.


He is survived by 3 children: Michael K. Upton of Bowmansville, Debra Horst, wife of William, of Lancaster, and Kelley Clark, wife of Chester, of Adamstown; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly.


In addition to his wife and his parents, Allen was preceded in death by his brother, Carroll Upton.


Graveside services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
