Alphas Glenn Ammons Jr.

Alphas Glenn “Tuff” Ammons Jr., 84, of Terre Hill, passed away on February 7, 2025 at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.

Born in Elderton, PA, he was the son of the late Alphas Glenn Ammons Sr. and Sarah Edis (Tennant) Ammons.

He was the husband of Emma Jean (Brown) Ammons, with whom he married on July 25, 1959 and shared 65 years of marriage.

He was a welder for his entire working career, starting with Sun Pipeline Solutions for 33 years and then he was an independent pipeline inspector for 19 years. He attended St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Terre Hill. He enjoyed taking care of the swimming pool for his grandchildren, going to casinos and cars. He was a member of Jeannette Masonic Lodge #750, a member of the consistory and the Syria Shriners in Pittsburgh.

Glenn is survived by his wife Emma, his children, Alphas Glenn Ammons III husband of Julie of Terre Hill, James Edward Ammons husband of Jennifer of Mount Laurel, NJ, Shellie Jean Smith wife of Tom of York, Fredrick Wayne Ammons husband of Tamson of Narvon and Matthew Michael Ammons husband of Amy of Ephrata, grandchildren, Molly, Alexandra, Madeleine, Andrew, Daniel, Kathryn and Bailey, 16 great grandchildren and his sister, Marlene Sue Shaw.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Alphas Glenn Ammons IV and siblings, David Richard Ammons and Jenney Brahosky.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 with a masonic service starting at 2:00 PM, followed by Pastor David Kling at C. Stanley Eckenroth Home for Funerals, 209 E Main Street, Terre Hill PA 17581. There will be a viewing held for one hour prior to the time of service on Saturday and on Friday, February 14, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Terre Hill Cemetery.
