Alta W. Rhodes

Alta W. Rhodes, 93, of 286 Kurtz Road, Ephrata, died Thursday morning, after a brief illness, at her home that she shared with Martha Zimmerman.

Born in Earl Township, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Z. and Susanna M. (Weaver) Hoover. Her husband, John Rhodes, died November 9, 2005.

Alta was a homemaker and a member of the New Holland Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

Surviving is a sister, Anna Hoover of New Holland; a brother, Ivan, married to Lydia (Hoover) Hoover of Hopkinsville, KY; a brother-in-law, Reuben N. Zimmerman of Denver; a sister-in-law, Lizzie Hoover of Scottsville, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are 9 brothers and 5 sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 17 at 1 pm at her late home, with further services at 1:30 pm at New Holland Mennonite Church with the Bishop Titus Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held at her late home on Sunday from 2-6 pm. Kindly omit flowers. Arrangements by Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland.
