Ammon K. Horst, 79, of Ephrata, formerly of Terre Hill, died Monday, May 26, 2014 after a brief illness at the Ephrata Community Hospital.
Born in West Earl Twp., he was the son of the late Harry H. and Fannie (Kauffman) Horst. He was married 55 years on November 1 to Louella M. (Weaver) Horst.
Ammon retired in 1999 as a truck driver for Brubacher Excavating and formerly worked for Terre Hill Silo Company.
He was a member of the Martindale Mennonite Church and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, singing with the Horsts, all games, puzzles, going to the mountains, yard work, and flowers.
Surviving in addition to his wife are six children, Clifford L. Horst of Ephrata, JoAnn H., married to Charles S. Risser of Lititz, Glenda M., married to Mervin Martin of Mohnton, Linda L., married to Rodney Greene of Lancaster, Darwin L., married to Bonita (Martin) Horst of Terre Hill, and Timothy D., married to Deborah (Lowe) Horst of Myerstown; 20 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; two brothers, Mervin W., married to Anna (Zimmerman) Horst of Richland, and Ivan K., married to Mabel (Martin) Horst of Ephrata; and three sisters, Alma, married to Ivan Martin of Millersburg, Norma, married to Harold Martin of Lititz, and Florence, married to Allen Nolt of New Holland; and a sister-in-law, Alice (Eberly) Horst of Ephrata.
Preceding him in death is a brother, Paul Horst.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 2 at 10 am at the Martindale Mennonite Church, 171 Hurst Road, Ephrata with the Reverends Dave Sensenig, Eugene Weaver, and Daryl Weaver officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Sunday from 5-8 pm and on Monday from 9-10 am at the Church.
