Amos Z. Newswanger, 86, of 2247 Little Hill Road, Narvon, died Monday, July 27, 2015 at the home of his daughter, Mary.
Born in East Earl Twp., he was the son of the late Samuel and Lydia (Zimmerman) Newswanger. His wife, Sue Etta (Shirk) Newswanger, died June 22, 2001.
Amos was a farmer and a metal shop worker. He was also a member of the Churchtown Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.
Surviving are seven children, Mary S., married to Ivan B. Shirk of Narvon, Jonas S. Newswanger of Narvon, Esther S., married to Daniel K. Kilmer of Mohnton, Catherine S. Farren of Bridgewater, VA, Anna S., married to James O. Ringler of Neillsville, WI, Lucy S., married to Leroy R. Martin of Latham, MO, and Mark S., married to Martha N. (Martin) Newswanger of Narvon; 29 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; two brothers, David, married to Mary Ann (Kulp) Newswanger of Fortuna, MO, and Reuben, married to Ella (Zimmerman) Newswanger of Shelby, OH; and two sisters, Lena Nolt of Fleetwood, and Catherine Newswanger of East Earl.
He is preceded in death by a grandson; four brothers, Wayne, Isaac, Phares, and Samuel Newswanger; and a daughter-in-law, Rose A. (Ringler) Newswanger.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 31 at 9 am at the late home with further services at 9:30 am at the Churchtown Mennonite Church with the Bishop Elam Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held at the late home on Thursday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Kindly omit flowers. Arrangements are with the Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill.
