Amos W. Hoover

Amos W. Hoover, 90, of 686 Reidenbach Road, New Holland, died at home on Monday, December 3, 2012 after a brief illness.

Born in Earl Twp., the son of the late Daniel and Susanna (Weaver) Hoover. His wife, Lydia N. (Hoover) Hoover, died July 17, 2004.

Amos was a farmer and a member of the Reidenbach Mennonite Branch Church.

Surviving are seven daughters, Alma, married to Henry Hoover of Hopkinsville, KY, Ada, married to Levi Reiff of New Holland, Emma, married to Luke Martin of Ephrata, Martha, married to David Hoover of Hopkinsville, KY, Mary, married to Paul Hoover of East Earl, Lydia, married to David Hoover of New Holland, and Linda Hoover, at home; ten sons, Isaac H., married to Mabel of New Holland, James H., married to Esther of Ephrata, Daniel H., married to Lucy of Hopkinsville, KY, Jonas H., married to Katie of New Holland, Amos H., married to Grace of East Earl, John H., married to Esther and, Paul H., married to Edith both of Stevens, Leon, married to Lena, Lloyd, married to Edna, and Lester, married to Sarah all of New Holland; 120 grandchildren; 67 great grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren; a number of step-great grandchildren; two brothers, John and Ivan Hoover both of Kentucky; three sisters, Martha Groff of Lancaster County, Alta Rhoads and Anna Hoover both of New Holland; a sister-in-law, Lizzie Hoover of Kentucky; and a brother-in-law, Rueben Zimmerman of Ephrata.

Preceding him in death are seven brothers, four sisters; six grandchildren; and a great grandson.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 7 at 12:30 pm at the late home with further services at 1 pm at the Reidenbach Mennonite Church. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held at the late home on Thursday from 1-4 pm. Arrangements by Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland.
