Amy Sue Sweitzer

Amy Sue (Glick) Sweitzer, beloved daughter, mother, gram, sister, and friend, passed away in her home in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on October 12, 2025, at the age of 58. Born in Lancaster, PA, Amy was the daughter of Dave and Sue (Leonard) Glick.

She graduated from Conestoga Valley High School in 1985. Her commitment to service was evident early on, as she joined the United States Air Force shortly after graduation. Serving from 1986 to 1990, Amy was stationed at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, where she excelled as a communications-computer systems operator, achieving the rank of Sergeant. Throughout her service, she was recognized with several awards for her good conduct, longevity, and training, reflecting her dedication and professionalism.

Amy started working in her parents’ business, Glick Fire Equipment, in 1990. Amy held many positions throughout the company as it grew. In 2008, she and her siblings took ownership of Glick Fire and Amy became President in 2023. Amy dedicated her career to serving others and helped build Glick Fire into what it is today, a company with strong values, dedicated to serving the emergency services customers, as they serve their communities.

Amy followed in her father and brother's footsteps by volunteering as a firefighter at Hand-in-Hand Fire Company from 1990-2008. Amy was the first female firefighter to join Hand-in-Hand and went on to be the financial secretary. Amy dedicated an unmeasurable amount of time to various organizations in the Emergency Services community and beyond.

As a kid, Amy was always outside playing with the neighbors and her cousins. She played softball throughout her early years and played for the Dover Air Force Base team. Amy loved spending time with her family near and far. She loved the company of others whether that was grandkids, family, friends, Glick Fire family, customers, Pierce associates, vendors, or a stranger. She found joy in both the quiet one-on-one conversations and when her home was full of the rowdy Sweitzer family.

Amy knew Jesus as her Lord and Savior and started attending Grace Community Church of Willow Street with her family in April of 1997. She gave her life to Christ in June of 1997 and faithfully served in various volunteer positions. Amy lived out God's calling on her life by being Christ-like; loving intentionally, giving generously, and exuberating kindness in all areas of life.

Family was at the heart of Amy’s life. She is survived by her son Ryan Sweitzer, husband of Lauren (Carter); her daughter Sarah, wife of Marty Grimm; and her daughter Jenna Sweitzer. She leaves behind four beloved grandchildren who brought her immense joy and laughter. She is also survived by her former husband, Joel Sweitzer; her brother Doug Glick, husband of Diane (Kauffman); her sister Jodi, wife of Dave Mohn; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Amy cherished her family deeply, fostering connections that spanned generations.

A celebration of Amy’s life will be held on October 25, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Grace Community Church of Willow Street. A live stream of the service is available at www.gccws.net/funeral. The family will greet friends following the service. Interment will be private, held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Conestoga Valley SEEDS through PayPal via the website, www.seedscv.com/giving or by check mailed to SEEDS, 1865 Lincoln Highway East, Unit 4, Lancaster, PA 17602.
