Anne V. (Richards) Montgomery, 55, of New Holland, passed away on November 22, 2023 in her residence after a seven year battle with early-onset Dementia, which she was diagnosed with when she was 49 years old.
Born in Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Barbara L. (Miller) Richards.
She was the loving wife of James “Jim” L. Montgomery, with whom she shared thirty-three years of marriage. Anne was a wonderful mom and loving wife. She was athletic, creative, adventurous, and active.
Anne graduated from Notre Dame High School, East Stroudsburg, PA and then earned her BA from La Salle University. She was employed as a physical education teacher for Sacred Heart School in Lancaster. She was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She enjoyed crafts, traveling and camping trips. She loved the beach, especially Long Beach Island, NJ. Anne was funny and kind, a great teammate and a wonderful sister. Anne played varsity field hockey, basketball and softball and was the outstanding girl athlete in her senior year at Notre Dame High School. She played varsity field hockey and softball at LaSalle. Anne played in several soccer leagues for over twenty years after moving to the Lancaster area.
Anne is survived by her husband Jim; her children, Kelley F. Montgomery of Lancaster, Andrew J. Montgomery of New Holland and Patrick E. Montgomery of New Holland; her siblings, Susan Lasch (Russ) Lancaster, Carol Bonavita (Greg) of North Canton, OH, Nancy Richards (Lylian) of Skippack, PA, John Richards (Flo) of Deerfield Beach, FL, Mary Fish (Jim) of Cape Canaveral, FL, William Richards (Lizzette) of Drexel Hill, PA, Elisabeth “Buffy” Pipolo (Peter) of Cresco, PA, Thomas Richards (Aaron) of Ashville, NC and Sara Devitt (Brian) of Long Beach Twp, NJ. Also, survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Barbara Homsher and Frank Richards.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 150 Water Street, New Holland PA 17557 with Father Steven Fauser officiating. A Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart School in Lancaster or online to Penn Memory Center, University of Pennsylvania Health Systems.
Groff High Funeral Home in New Holland is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
