Annie S. Hurst, 90, of 233 E. Maple Grove Rd., Narvon, died Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at the home of her daughter, Esther, in Kutztown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phares S. Hurst, in 2012.
Born in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Ellen (Sauder) Martin.
Annie was a homemaker and a member of Bowmansville Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.
Surviving are nine children: Anna married to Lloyd Fox, Ephrata, David married to Eva (Martin) Hurst, Shippensburg, Ella widow of the late Martin Fox, Penn Yan, NY, Joseph married to Lavina (Hoover) Hurst, Plymouth, OH, Mary married to John Hoover, East Earl, Phares M. married to Marian (Martin) Hurst, Narvon, Martha married to Mervin Newswanger, East Earl, Esther married to Paul Burkholder, Kutztown, and Annetta married to Amos Z. Sauder, New Holland, 67 grandchildren, 155 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Eli S. Martin, New Holland and Aaron S. Martin, Narvon.
She was preceded in death by five siblings: Henry, David, John, Lydia and Samuel Martin, a granddaughter Rachel Hoover and a great-grandson.
Her funeral will be held at her late home on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 9 a.m. with further services at 9:30 am. at Bowmansville Mennonite Church with Bishop Elam Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at her late home on Sunday from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Kindly omit flowers. The Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill is in charge of arrangements.
