Arlene L. Wise

Arlene L. Wise, 94, of Ephrata, went home peacefully to be with her Lord on Friday, January 24. She was under the care of Hospice & Community Care.

She was the wife to the late Jacob Wise Jr who died in 2017 with whom she shared 66 years of marriage. She was the daughter of the late Earl Snyder and Hettie (Myers) Snyder.

Arlene was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She loved going to the family cabin in Lycoming Co. She rode her bike on the Pine Creek Rail Trail until she was 81. She also enjoyed doing jig-saw puzzles, gardening and playing cards. In her earlier years she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, making many blankets out of flannel squares for her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and baker. Her family has many warm and happy memories of the numerous meals, celebrations and family gatherings that she provided. Arlene was a member of St John’s Center UCC Church, East Earl.

She is survived by three daughters; Diane Fry (wife of Timothy); Linda Martin (wife of Wayne); Karen Rutter (wife of Roger); a son-in-law Phillip Fry. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jacob, a daughter Nancy Fry, a daughter Bonnie Wise and a great grandchild Charlotte. Also a brother Lester Snyder and a brother Lloyd Snyder.

A Funeral Service will be held at St. John’s Center UCC Church, 432 Reading Road, East Earl, at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 30, 2025, with Reverend R. Kenneth Evitts officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Bergstrasse Lutheran Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Groff-High Funeral Home, Inc., of New Holland.
