Barbara Ella Beiler, 69, of 5036 Chelsea Dr., Mohnton, died Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at ManorCare, Sinking Spring. Her husband of 13 years, Oliver S. Mast, survives.
Born in Lancaster, she was the only daughter of the late Benjamin B. and Lena (Lapp) Beiler. She had six brothers: Moses married to Sylvia (Martin) Beiler, NY, Omar married to Lisa (Kern) Beiler, VA, Warren (deceased) married to Anna Mary Lantz, Narvon, Luke married to Miriam (Stoltzfus) Beiler, Narvon, Philip married to Linda (Beachy) Beiler, Narvon, and Paul married to Linda (Nafziger) Beiler, AZ.
Barbara was a nurse midwife, serving in missions in Belize for 2 ½ years and then working in southern Texas for 20 years. She had also worked at Temple University Hospital. She had been taking courses at EMU- Lancaster towards her C.P.E.
She was a member of Zion Mennonite Church, Birdsboro and had chaired the Peace and Justice Committee for Atlantic Coast Mennonite Conference. She was an avid bird-watcher and enjoyed being with her family.
In addition to her husband and brothers, she is survived by seven step-children: Rowena Stoltzfus, Julia Horst, Freda Petersheim, Becky Martin, Rachel Deeds, Weldon Mast, Rosie Fulton, and Angie Gridley; 31 step-grandchildren and 25 step-great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Conestoga Mennonite Church, 2779 Main St., Morgantown with her pastor, Steve Musselman, officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Elverson. A viewing will be held at the church on Friday from 6 – 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10-11 a.m. The Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland is in charge of arrangements.
