Barbara Ann Overly

Barbara Ann (Fitrer) Overly, 92, a resident of Keystone Villa at Ephrata and formerly of Narvon, died Tuesday, June 4, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71+ years, Harvey H. Overly, who passed away in 2020. Born in Downingtown, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Edna M. (Miller) Fitrer.

Barbara attended Downingtown High School and was a color guard in the high school marching band. She earned numerous penmanship awards while in school and worked as an usherette in the Downingtown Movie Theater. That's where she grew her love for watching old time movies. She also enjoyed traveling with her late husband, where they shared a highlight trip to Hawaii.

Barbara was a long-time member of Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church and held various jobs outside of the home. She was the cafeteria manager at Caernarvon Elementary School for several years, worked for a short stint at Wyeth Laboratories, and served many years as a personal aide in the home of Dr. and Mrs. May Fink, who started the now Maple Farm Nursing Center in Akron, PA.

Surviving are her three children: Lynn B. married to Susan Marie Overly, Millersville, Sharon Ann Wisniewski, Lititz, and Vickie L. married to Ray Kahler, East Earl, five grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren with a 14th due in September, and a sister-in-law, Ursula Fitrer (wife of Chester) of VA. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ray Wisniewski, a grandson, Paul Wisniewski, and by siblings: Chester Fitrer, Viola Fitrer, James Fitrer, Evelyn Fitrer, and Grace Madiro.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with the viewing 1-hour prior from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Beck Funeral Home, 315 E. Main St., New Holland, PA. A private interment will be held at Ranck's United Methodist Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church, P.O.
