Barbara (Levers) Possessky of Narvon, PA, age 84, died peacefully during Easter Week due to complications from advanced Parkinson’s Disease. She is survived by her husband, Francis Possessky, four children; Fritz of Salem, NJ, Andrew of Denver, PA, Margaret of Brooklyn, NY and Sharon Krock of Churchtown, PA, and four grandchildren; Alan, Elise and Emmett Krock, and Avery Possessky and brother, Robert Levers. She is predeceased by her brother, John of Fernandina Beach, FL.
Barbara was born and raised on College Hill in Easton, PA, where her brother, Robert, still resides. While attending Easton High School, she was the Head Majorette for two years, the Head Lifeguard at Eddyside, belonged to the Delaware Canoe Club and enjoyed swimming and canoeing in the river. She graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Physical Education and a master’s degree from Michigan State University. She enjoyed the teaching profession in Tom’s River, NJ, Richmond and Rochester, MI, and until her retirement at Garden Spot High School in New Holland, PA, where she taught Physical Education, Health and Driver’s Education.
She loved being involved with music, sang locally for the Lancaster Opera Workshop at the Fulton, Lancaster Chamber Singers, Musica Sacra, and the choir at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Holland. She was a talented musician playing the harp, piano, and organ, as well as the dulcimer. She insisted on piano lessons for her children and grandchildren and personally took her grandchildren to their lessons. For many years she had season tickets to the Metropolitan Opera in NYC, experiencing the professionals. Barbara enjoyed horseback riding and kayaking on Lake Wallenpaupack and even built her own kayak.
Frank, her husband of 61 years an avid big game hunter, invited Barbara to join him on his hunting trips and she always graciously declined, instead she and her girlfriends vacationed in France as she spoke the language and enjoyed the country.
Frank expresses his gratitude to the staff of the Skilled Nursing Section of Garden Spot Village for the friendship, love and kindness they extended to Barbara during her stay, which was very much appreciated.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 221 East Main Street, New Holland, PA, with her pastor, Dr. Charles Oberkehr officiating.
