Benjamin F. Hoover, 84, of 580 Reidenbach Road, New Holland, died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, February 15, 2015.
Born in Earl Twp., he was the son of the late David B. and Lizzie (Martin) Hoover. He was married 63 years on January 17 to Mary Z. (Martin) Hoover.
He was a farmer and a member of the New Holland Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons; Mahlon, married to Martha (Martin) Hoover of Ephrata, and Frank, married to Laura (Martin) Hoover of New Holland; six daughters, Etta Hoover, at home, Susie, married Clarence Reiff of East Earl, Sarah, married to Walter Martin of Penn Yan, NY, Ruth, married to Henry Z. Martin of New Holland, Mary, married to Paul Martin of New Holland, and Alice, married to Reuben Weaver of East Earl; 38 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters, Rufus, married to Sarah (Martin) Hoover of New Holland, Lydia, married to Rufus Martin of Denver, Anna, married to Paul Z. Martin of East Earl, David M., married to Anna Z. (Martin) Hoover of New Holland, Jonas, married to Anna (Fox) Hoover of New Holland, and Lizzie, married to Aaron Martin of Denver.
He was preceded in death by a son, Milton Hoover; a daughter, Nora Hoover; a grandson, Thomas Martin; a brother, Henry Hoover; and a sister, Martha Martin.
His funeral will be held on Friday, Feb. 20 at 9 a.m. at his late home with further services at 9:30 a.m. at New Holland Mennonite Church with Bishop Titus Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at his late home on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Kindly omit flowers. The Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland, is in charge of arrangements.
