Bertha Styer Steffy

Bertha Styer (Ziemer) Steffy, 96, passed peacefully near her office at home on December 19, 2015.

As the daughter of the late Phineas and Mahala (Styer) Ziemer, she lived in the Terre Hill area all of her life.

A Union Grove 8th grade graduate, Bertha was extremely proud of high school diplomas, college diplomas, and master’s degrees of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gardening, lawn work and other light outdoor activities were one of her many hobbies. Bountiful red roses were a result of her gardening skills and were admired by many.

It was rewarding for her to provide delicious meals for family and friends throughout the years. Baking and canning were a skill that she used successfully.

Working for C.W. Fox Company in Terre Hill was an integral part of her life for many years.

Predeceased by her husband, Samuel, in 1982 and her eldest son, Leonard, in 1997, she is survived by her daughter, Connie Shea of Southport, NC, and sons, Douglas of Barnegat, NJ, and Thomas of East Earl, and daughter-in-law, Sarella Schmid of Terre Hill.

Also surviving are one sister, Dorothy Good of East Earl, and two brothers, Raymond of Denver, and Richard of Narvon. Bertha also spent special quality time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Dr. Waskowitz, WellSpan, and Maple Farm rehab center for their excellent care and support during the past year.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 23 at 11 am at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 105 W. Main St., Terre Hill, PA with the Reverend Bradley Haws officiating.
