Beth A. Eby, 44, of Brownstown went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Hospice & Community Care following an eight-month illness. Her husband of nearly 19 years, Menno Travis Eby survives.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Carl R. Zimmerman, New Holland and the late Carolyn M. (Sheneberger) Zimmerman.
Beth was a 1988 graduate of Garden Spot High School and a 1992 graduate of Shippensburg University. She taught elementary school in the Elanco School District at Brecknock Elementary from 1992-1995, Hilliard City Schools (Hilliard, OH) from 1996-1999, and Manheim Twp. Schools from 2010-2011. Additionally, she was a family life educator at COBYS Family Services and a Title 1 Aide in Conestoga Valley School District from 2006-2009.
She was a member of St. John’s Center U.C.C, East Earl, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and chair of the Primary Instruction Team. She also was a board member and age group coordinator for the Conestoga Valley Youth Soccer Club from 2010-2014. She enjoyed traveling, skiing, ice skating, and working with children. She especially enjoyed teaching young children to read.
She is survived by two daughters: Sarah N. Eby and Rachel M. Eby, both at home and a sister Christine Z. Charles married to Jonathan R. Charles, Lititz.
A viewing will be held at St. John’s Center United Church of Christ, 432 Reading Rd., East Earl on Friday from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, November 15 at 10:30 with a viewing from 9 – 10:30 at Christian Fellowship Church, 758 Spruce Rd., New Holland with Pastor Brad Haws officiating. Interment will be immediately following in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, New Holland.
