Betty A. Buckwalter

Betty A. Buckwalter, 79, of Reading, formerly of New Holland, died Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Manor care – Laureldale. Her husband of 56 years, Harold S. Buckwalter, survives.

Born in Wellsboro, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Margaret (Dart) Monks.

Betty worked for many years as a clerk at Eby’s Store in Martindale. She was an active member of the former Bethany E. C. Church, Martindale where she had taught Sunday School. She also enjoyed knitting and bowling.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children: Ricky married to Joann Buckwalter, Denver and Gail married to John Merinsky, Reading; four grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and seven siblings: Jim Monks, Phyllis Driebelles, Nancy Niels, Mary Lou Brooks, Alba Monks, all of Wellsboro; Helen Howe, New Hampshire; and Gracie Giroux, Houston, TX.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 12 at 11 a.m. at Eckenroth Home for Funerals, 209 E. Main St., Terre Hill. Interment will be in Bethany E. C. Cemetery. A viewing will be held at Eckenroth’s on Wednesday from 10 – 11 a.m. The family prefers donations be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, J.
