Betty J. Ertz

Betty J. Ertz, 75, of East Earl, PA passed away on October 30, 2010 surrounded by her loving family at Hospice of Lancaster County. Born in Salisbury Township, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and S. Marie (Ream) Moore. Betty was a beautiful, strong, and caring woman who left a lasting impact on all who met her. She will be dearly missed by her devoted husband, Harold, who lovingly cared for her in their home during her long journey with Alzheimer’s disease. She was the loving mother of Sandra, wife of Floyd Ruhl, and Barbara, wife of Hugh MacMaster,. She was also the proud grandmother of four grandchildren, James Moore, Justin Moore, Ryan MacMaster and Megan MacMaster Carvell. Betty was an avid seamstress and worked over 30 years at SLC Corporation and New Holland Lingerie. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. Betty was a member of Pequea Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. She is also survived by one brother, Phillip Moore, and three sisters: Ruth Diem, Doris Witmer, and Dorothy Miller. She was preceded in death by a son, James Moore, and three brothers, Vernon Moore, Harry Moore, and Kenneth Moore. A memorial service will be held at Pequea Presbyterian Church, 273 Cambridge Road, Gap, PA on Wednesday, November 3 at 11 a.m. Interment will be private at Bridgeville Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Betty’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110-9386 or to Hospice of Lancaster County, P. O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125. The Beck Funeral Home, New Holland is serving the family.
