Betty J. Weaver, 93, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at Garden Spot Village, New Holland, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard W. Weaver in 1991.




She was the daughter of the late Roy S. and M. Ruth (Mowery) Fritz, and had resided in Quarryville, Terre Hill, Blue Ball and New Holland. She was a member of Ranck’s United Methodist Church.




Betty had been a teacher at Terre Hill High School and teacher and librarian in the Eastern Lancaster County School District, retiring after 32 years. She was a member of Lancaster Area and Penna. Retired Public School Employees Assoc., as well as American Assoc. of Retired Public School Employees.




She had been a 40 year member of and was past president of Terre Hill and New Holland Business & Professional Women. She was a former member of Lioness Club of Blue Ball, former Blue Ball Sunshine Club and former New Holland Senior Citizens.




She is survived by her daughter Sally Mae Weaver of Elizabethtown, PA, a son Richard D. Weaver of Waco, Texas, a grandson David A. Weaver of Albuquerque, NM, 2 step granddaughters, Christy Lorbach and Jessica Ersch, both of Dallas, TX, and 7 great-granchildren.


A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, December 28 at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland, with Pastor Kevin Readman officiating. Private interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Memorial contributions in honor of Betty may be made to Eastern Lancaster County Library, 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, PA 17557 Arrangements are with Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland.
