Betty Jane Williams, 75, of 305 East Main St., New Holland, where she had lived since 1976, died at home, Monday, December 12, 2011, with her husband and family by her side following a lengthy illness. She would have celebrated 39 years of marriage on Jan. 23rd to J.R. Bob Williams. Born in New Holland, she was the daughter of the late Earl Leroy and Helen Marie (Riggs) Whitekettle. She had attended Honey Brook United Methodist Church and enjoyed antique and glassware collecting. Betty Jane had been a school bus driver for George Krapf, and a head waitress and bartender at the Old Maple Inn in Honey Brook for 11 years, and ran the New Holland American Legion. She had owned B & B Tavern and Restaurant in Mohnton, and was head chef and owner of B & B Lounge and Restaurant, New Holland from 1988 until 2007. She also was a former Board member of the Penna. Restaurant Association. Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, George M. Buchanan, Jr., of New Holland, two grandchildren, David M. Buchanan of Charleston, SC, and Jennifer Buchanan of Akron, PA, and three great grandchildren, also a brother Harry Whitekettle of Ephrata, a sister Grace Miller of Glenmoore, and an aunt Marian Riggs of Bethel, PA. She was preceded in death by a sister Alice Whitekettle and brothers Earl and Paul Whitekettle. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 10 a.m. at the Honey Brook United Methodist Church, with Pastor Coleen Painter officiating. Interment will be in the Honey Brook U.M. Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Friday from 7 9 p.m. at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W.
