Betty Sue “Susie” (Rush) Woolf, 62, of Lancaster, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday August 11, 2012. Susie was born January 3rd, 1950 in Phillipsburg, New Jersey and lived there until 1983, when she moved to Lancaster County, PA. She was the daughter of the late Martin D. and Mary L. (Masterson) Rush. She attended Luther College, Teaneck NJ and made many lifelong friends there. Once moving to Lancaster, she became of member of Witmer Heights Mennonite Church.
She was last employed by Sharing Programs as a property underwriter and worked there for 10 years until 2002. She loved all animals, especially dogs. She was the proud owner of many dogs in her lifetime and adopted several from the Humane League. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and loved cooking for herself and others. She collected recipes and cookbooks as a hobby. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, wife, aunt, sister, & friend and will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.
She is survived by her husband, James P. Woolf, and her four children, Pamela S. Newcomer of Deltona, FL, Nathan D. Ayers of Lancaster, PA, Eliza J. Booth, wife of Michael A. of Lancaster, PA, and Martin H. Ayers, husband of Ashley M. of Christiana, PA; and 3 grandsons, David S. Newcomer, Kordell C. Booth, and Martin H. Ayers, Jr. (due in December 2012); a sister, Madeline Y. Morris, wife of William H., and two brothers; John M. “Jack” Rush, and Karl R. Rush, husband of Elaine L. She was preceded in death by one brother: Daniel J. Rush.
A memorial service will be held at Witmer Heights Mennonite Church, 2270 Old Philadelphia Pike, Lancaster on Friday, August 17 at 6:30 PM. The family will visit with friends over refreshments immediately following the service. The Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland is assisting the family with arrangements.
