Bonnie L. Diem, 67, of New Holland went to her "forever home" on Sunday August 14, 2016 at Hospice Center of Lancaster County, Mt. Joy.
She was born March 9, 1949 in Lancaster to the late Russell E. and Charlotte I. (Diem) McQuate.
Bonnie was a 1967 graduate of Conestoga Valley High School and a 1971 graduate of Millersville State College. She was married for nearly 47 years to James W. Diem. Bonnie enjoyed making needlepoint crafts and attending rallies with the Retreads motorcycle club, where she made many friends over the years. She retired from teaching after many years lastly working for Lancaster Lebanon IU-13. She had a big heart for her students and all children. Bonnie was a great inspiration to her students, she instilled in them a desire to learn. Bonnie was a lifelong active member of Ranck's United Methodist Church, New Holland. She was a great prayer warrior! She will be missed by many.
She is survived by her loving husband James W. Diem, New Holland; her son David R. married to Martha (Riehl) Diem, Ronks, her cat, Peaches, and her grandcat, Button. Also surviving is a brother, Allen R. husband of Karen (Mosebach) McQuate, Leola and a sister Cynthia A. wife of Kenneth Allison Sr., New Holland. She is survived by nieces and nephews who loved her dearly and many friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant son, Brian Willis Diem.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 10 AM at Ranck's United Methodist Church, 700 Ranck Road, New Holland, PA 17557 with Pastor Elaine Bortman officiating. Viewings will be held from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Thursday August 18 and from 9-10 AM on Friday August 19 at the church . Burial will take place in the adjoining cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Ranck's U.M. Church Building Fund or Hospice & Community Care of Lancaster, 685 Good Dr, Lancaster, PA 17601.
