C. Leroy Dombach

C LeRoy Dombach passed from this earth on Wednesday June 17, 2020. He was born August 29, 1935, the son and only child of Chester and Edna (Ulmer) Dombach. LeRoy was born and raised in Lancaster and continued in his father’s footsteps in the family awning and tent business of C.B. Dombach and Son.

Leroy is survived by his wife Eleanor Nolt. Daughters: Sherry Sensenig (Doug),Connie Zeiset (Eric) Cindy Raught (Jeff), and one son Jay Dombach (Melanie Perdeus). Stepchildren: Cindy Hoffert,Tim Rice and Sandy Kotay, along with many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by his first wife Darlene Fenninger. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Lauren Rice.

He was in Sertoma and also active in his earlier years with the Bird-in-Hand Fire Company where he served as assistant Fire Chief. He created many covers for many fire companies and apparatus over the years using his skill in working with canvas. LeRoy was a member of the “Do Nothing Club”, where the goal was to gather for breakfast at a local restaurant and not to talk about business. The most important part was to do nothing for that period of time, hence the name. He enjoyed snowmobiling in the mountains and clamming at the shore. Because the other way around does not work as well. LeRoy played the piano. We only ever seemed to hear the same medley time and time again, but he delighted in playing it every single time. He attended several churches in his lifetime and his faith story was a large part of who he was. Each of those congregations were meaningful to him.

He will be missed, as he had a style all his own. His many stories and the amazing number of people that he knew will carry forward the memory of LeRoy Dombach. Oh and one more thing. Pretzels. The man really liked pretzels. If heaven has pretzels, LeRoy is already in line for one.

There will be a private burial for the family(well, just LeRoy) at Ridgeview Mennonite Church Cemetery. A memorial service is planned for a later date.
