Calvin H. Burkhart

Calvin H. Burkhart, 75, of New Holland, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015 after a long illness. He was the husband of Darlene R. (Smith) Burkhart, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.

Born in Blue Ball, he was a son of the late Lloyd W. and Edna M. (Hellinger) Burkhart.

Calvin was a truck driver for 28 years. He later retired from Eastern Lancaster County School District where he worked as a janitor. He was a lifetime member of both the Liberty Fire Company and the Sons of the American Legion of New Holland. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, painting and coloring, and spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four children: Scott A. Burkhart, husband of Claudette, of East Earl, Jill A. Burkhart, companion to Sherman Steffy, of Narvon, Kurt B. Burkhart, husband of Lynette, of New Holland, and Todd C. Burkhart, husband of Lori, of New Holland; 8 grandchildren: Eric S. Burkhart, husband of Melissa, of New Holland, Shane E. Burkhart of East Earl, Evan M. Burkhart of East Earl, Stacy Reid of Erie, PA, David Burkhart of La Salle, PA, Danielle Steffy of Philadelphia, Morgan Burkhart of New Holland, and Matthew Burkhart; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents and his three sisters, Dorothy Fox, Virginia Watts, and Mary Burkhart.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Beck Funeral Home, New Holland.
