Carl W. McCardell was born on March 19, 1949 at the Coatesville Hospital to Sumner B. and Mary K. McCardell.
He resided in the Village of Byers for 25 years then moved to various locations in the area. He moved to the Wyalusing area of Bradford County in October 1999.
Carl was a member of Windsor Baptist Church in Eagle for 27 years then going to Bible Baptist Church in West Chester for 13 years. He shortly joined Hope Baptist Church in Herrickville when he moved near Wyalusing.
The deceased attended three one-room schools in the Upper Uwchan School District from 1st to 6 grades. He then graduated from Downingtown High School in 1967.
Carl worked at three area grocery stores, then three electronics factories in Lionville. He also had his own lawn care business for 12 years and helped with other lawn care businesses.
Carl was an Outdoor writer having been published in over 30 different newspapers and magazines including, Pennsylvania Game News and Pennsylvania Sportsman. He began writing for the Record Newspapers in 1988. He then wrote a column called Outdoor Paths in the Tri-County Record in 1992 to date.
Carl’s favorite activities were hunting, shooting, lawn mowing, trimming and flowerbed work. He enjoyed fellowshipping with his friends.
The deceased would like to be remembered for serving God to the best of his ability and his faith.
Interment for family and friends will be at the Windsor Baptist Cemetery, 213 Little Conestoga Road, Downingtown, PA on Saturday, September 27 at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland, PA 17557 to assist with funeral expenses.
