Catharine S. Messner

Catharine S. Messner, 94, a resident of Garden Spot Village, New Holland, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025.

She was the wife of the late Roy R. Messner who died in 2014. Born in East Earl Twp., she was the daughter of the late Daniel W. and Grace Witwer Burkholder.

Catharine was a homemaker and a member of St. John’s Center Lutheran Church in East Earl. She enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening.

Surviving are six children, Ruth Ann wife of Lester Martin of Ephrata, Janet wife of Larry Yoder of New Holland, Nelson husband of Dora Messner of East Earl, Mary Jane wife of Terry Schaeffer of Narvon, Lamar husband of Katrina Messner of Denver, and Charles Messner of Denver; 25 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and three sisters, Grace Brubaker of Lancaster, Helen Messner of East Earl. and Ruth wife of Mel Hornberger of East Earl. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Harold, a great grandchild Maverick Messner, son-in-law’s, Elmer Rissler and Glen Weaver, a daughter-in-law, Beverly Heck Messner. and brothers, James, Leroy and George Burkholder.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 6, at 2:00 P.M. at the Chapel at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, with Pastors Chet Yoder and Jason Rissler officiating. Interment in Center Union Cemetery. A Viewing will be held at Garden Spot Village on Thursday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
