Catherine L. Hackett

Catherine L. Hackett (née Buchter), 91, passed away peacefully after a recent illness, surrounded by the love of her family.

Catherine was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy came from time spent with those she loved. She was the beloved mother of Karen Usner (Ronald), Bunnie Iannacone (Jamie), Terry Hackett, and Patricia Pfautz (Barry). She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray E. Hackett, with whom she shared 56 cherished years of marriage.

Throughout much of her life, Catherine worked in local restaurants preparing food with care and pride- notably Terre Hill Restaurant and Yoders.

Catherine’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Ryan Pfautz (Erin), Amber Fultz (Jeremy), and Matthew Iannacone, as well as her three great-grandchildren: Lucas, Nora, and Lyla, who affectionately knew her as “GG.”

A woman of simple pleasures and deep love, Catherine enjoyed reading, solving puzzles, and gathering with family. She always treated the family dogs as tenderly as her own grandchildren, a reflection of her gentle and generous spirit. Her warmth, wit, and unwavering presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now reunited with Ray, and in the lasting impact she has left in their hearts.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Catherine loved the family dogs immensely - In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Zoe’s House Rescue of Reading, PA, or your favorite animal rescue in Catherine’s memory.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland.
