Charles "Chuck" Jay Groff

Charles “Chuck” Jay Groff, 71, loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, passed away unexpectedly on July 20, 2025. Born in Lancaster, Chuck was the son of the late Benjamin and Carrie Groff.

Chuck owned and operated Groff’s Construction Company for more than 50 years in Lancaster County. He deeply loved his bird Solomon, camping with his family, long rides on his Can-Am, car shows, and his weekly dinners with friends and family. Above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. Chuck was larger than life and lived his life to the fullest. He will be missed by many.

Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, Joan (Denlinger) Groff, and his brothers, Joseph Groff, Benjmain Groff and by a sister, Toni Burkholder.

He is survived by his siblings, Stephen Groff, Tina Pagan (wife of Jose), and Edward Groff (husband of Jill); a son, Gregory Groff (husband of Cathy); stepchildren, Stephanie Reed, Bill McFalls (husband of Tina) and Karen Waltmeyer (wife of Dan). Along with his children he leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 16, at 11:00 A.M. at the Beck Funeral Home, 315 E. Main St., New Holland, PA with the Rev. Robert K. Bronkema officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the funeral. Immediately following the service there will be a Celebration of Life at Paradise Park, 6 London Vale Road, Gordonville, PA 17529 where everyone is invited to come and share stories of Chuck.
