Charles B. Kapp

Charles B. Kapp, 83, of West Main St., New Holland, died Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Conestoga View. He is survived by his wife Ruth A. (Patches) Kapp and they would have been married 65 years on June 17.


Born in Kleinfeltersville in Lebanon County, he was the son of the late John H. and Margaret (Zartman) Kapp.


Charlie had worked at Grace Mines, Morgantown, and retired from the Steelton Bethlehem Plant in 1983 following 33 years. He had most recently been a mechanic part time at Howard Wyble’s “tune up” shop, New Holland.


He was a member of St. Stephen Reformed Church, New Holland where he was active in the 9:15 Sunday school class, and also active with the M.O.S.S. group that assisted with disaster relief and clean up.


Charlie was a member of the NRA, New Holland Rifle and Pistol Club and North American Hunters. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid hunter, including big game hunting in Wyoming, and spending time at the Kapp family cabin in Sullivan County.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Michael C., married to Bonnie (Griffith) Kapp of Lancaster, a daughter Lois J., married to Douglas L. Snader, of Paradise; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a brother Leroy C., married to Mary Ann Kapp of Newsmanstown.


His funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 9, at 10 a.m. at the St. Stephen Reformed Church, 249 E. Main St., New Holland with the Reverend Dr. Timothy Witmer officiating. Interment will be in St. Stephen Reformed Cemetery. A viewing will be held at Beck Funeral Home on Monday from 6 - 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9 – 10 a.m. at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Steeple Fund of St. Stephen Reformed Church, 249 E. Main St., New Holland, PA 17557. Online condolences may be posted at www.beckfuneral.com.
