Charles R. Shaub

Charles R. “Chuck” Shaub, 73, of Emporium, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born in Mountville, he was the son of the late Charles Abram and Josephine E. (Gerlitzki) Shaub.

He worked for 30 plus years as an iron worker at High Steel in Lancaster. He retired in 2001.

Chuck was a member of the Sinnamahoning Sportsmans Club in Lumber Twp., the Moose Lodge in Emporium, and the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting pool, his mountain home, and his family and family of friends at the mountains. His legacy will be carried on by his grandson, Troy, who learned from Pop the finer points of hunting, fishing, and the fine art of shooting pool.

He served in the US Marines during peacetime.

Surviving are four children, Jeff, married to MaryJo (Flood) Shaub of Lancaster, Sam, married to Sanae (Oshiro) Shaub of Ephrata, Craig Shaub of Narvon, and Elisa, married to Mark Lipko, Jr. of East Earl; nine grandchildren, Sara, Madison, Alexis, Kierra, Damien, Hailee, Troy, Bryianna, and Shaylei; a sister, Marilyn, married to Richard Burgy of Florida; and his former wife, Marylou Shaub-Diem of Narvon.

Preceding him in death is a son, Troy Russell Shaub.

There will be no funeral service but viewing will be held on Friday, Aug. 2 from 6-8 pm at the Beck Funeral Home, 315 E. Main St., New Holland.
