Charles (Chuck) Henry Sheffield, 90, of New Holland, passed away October 2, 2025. He was born in Oberlin, Ohio to the late Henry and Amy (Bradstock) Sheffield.
A 1953 graduate of Wellington (Ohio) High School; he enjoyed FFA and school plays, and finished 5th academically. He served in the US Navy for 4 years, before making New Holland his home. Chuck retired in 1995 after 38 years as a computer programmer for CNH New Holland Agriculture (the former New Holland Machine Co). He was a charter member of the Garden Spot Football Booster Club, serving as president for 12 years and as a member of the “chain gang” for 31 years. Chuck enjoyed BBQ competitions, winning many awards. He served for 17 years on the New Holland Summer Fest BBQ Cook-Off Committee, retiring in 2016. He and his family-owned S & S Grilling and BBQ Restaurant. Chuck was a life member of the New Holland American Legion Conestoga Post 662. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes Football fan, along with his passion for Cleveland Indians baseball. Born a Buckeye, always a Buckeye.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 70 years, Geraldine (Gerry) King Sheffield, his children Jackie wife of Mike Taylor of Russell, PA, Deb Diamond partner of Johnny Howard of Akron, PA, and Art Sheffield of New Holland, PA; his grandchildren Amber wife of Ben Grim, Scott husband of Devyn Dunkelberger, Lindsay Sheffield, Lance husband of Sarah Diamond and Toby husband of Tonya Stoltzfus; great-grandchildren Matt, Aydnn, Jake, Sam, Gabe, Rory, Landon, Nick, Jenna, Allie, Noah; great-great-granddaughter Junie. He is survived by his siblings James husband of Lora Sheffield and Beverly wife of Roger James both of Wellington, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Thomas Sheffield, and his son-in-law Henry Stoltzfus.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 7, at 11:00 A.M. at the Beck Funeral Home, 315 E. Main St., New Holland, PA. Interment with Military Honors in St. Stephens Reformed Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. A Celebration of Life will also be held at the New Holland American Legion, 35 S. Hoover Avenue, New Holland, on Saturday, November 15th from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. If desired, contributions in Chuck’s memory may be made to the New Holland American Legion.
