Charles K. Wanner, 83, of 77 Ridge Rd., Mohnton, died Friday, December 13, 2013 at Reading Hospital. His wife of 33 years, Ruth R. (Martin) Wanner, survives.
Born in Port Clinton, he was the son of the late Walter and Kathryn (Williams) Wanner.
Charlie was involved in the printing industry and was last employed by Reick’s Printing in West Reading.
During the Korean War, he served as a paratrooper in the Army.
He was a member of Vincent Mennonite Church.
Charlie will be remembered for his love of music, travel, family times, and socializing with others.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children: Karen Schiavo (Neil), Wyomissing; Pam Lenfoff, Ephrata; Charles, Jr. (Denise), Florence, SC; Charlene Mitchell (Randall), Murchinson, TX; and Arthur; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and a sister, Bev Todd, Mountain Top, PA.
He was preceded by his first wife, Lydia (Mitchell) Wanner in 1975, and by two sisters, Roberta Golden and Jane Seibert, both in November.
His funeral will be held on Friday, December 20 at 10:45 a.m. at Vincent Mennonite Church, 39 7 Stars Rd., Spring City, PA 19475 with Pastor Timothy Moyer officiating. Interment will be in Vincent Mennonite Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Eckenroth Home for Funerals, 209 E. Main St., Terre Hill and at the church on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. If desired, memorials may be sent to the Vincent Mennonite Church Building Fund, address above.
