Charles L. Witwer

Charles L. Witwer, 89, of Narvon, formerly of Bowmansville, died Monday, August 28, 2017 at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Bowmansville, he was a son of John and Alice (Brendle) Witwer. His wife, Betty J. (Sprecher) Witwer, died March 4, 2009.

Charles operated a produce market stand in Reading for many years.

He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Bowmansville Fire Company for over 50 years, and the Lions Club.

He enjoyed vegetable gardening. During WWII he served in the US Army Air Force.

Surviving is a daughter, Dianne, married to Leon Beyer of Narvon; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and a great-great granddaughter.

Preceding him in death is a son, Arthur Witwer; a sister, Jean Reisinger; and a brother, William “Bill” Witwer.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 11 am at Eckenroth Home for Funerals, 209 E. Main St., Terre Hill with the Reverend R. Kenneth Evitts officiating. Interment will be in the Bowmansville Union Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, at the Funeral Home, from 10-11 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org, or to the American Diabetes Association, www.diabetes.org.
