Christine Carol Shenk

Christine Carol Good Shenk passed away on July 11, 2024, surrounded by family in her home. She was born 62 years ago to Edna Mae Mast and James Allen Good, and spent most of her life near Fleetwood, PA. In recent years she enjoyed living near friends and family in Lancaster, PA. She also deeply loved spending time by the water at the Chesapeake Bay.

Christine is survived by her husband, Edward Shenk, two daughters, a grandchild, and three siblings. She was preceded in death by her oldest sister and a beloved niece.

Christine graduated from Eastern Mennonite College with a BS in accounting. She began her career as an accountant and later owned Weaver’s Hardware with her husband. Christine was also certified as a spiritual director, a Zentangle teacher, and mindfulness meditation teacher.

Christine was a curious, open-hearted, thoughtful, and creative person - always learning and growing. She studied different modalities of psychology, theology, and contemplative spirituality. She was an intuitive, strong, and wise person who valued close relationships with her family and friends, and a world-traveler who loved to go on pilgrimages and explore new places. She showed up for others, celebrating the joys of life alongside its pain and sorrows. She was an amazing grandmother who regularly provided childcare for her beloved grandchild, and taught everyone around her to notice and cherish small moments of joy and delight in their daily lives.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Akron Mennonite Church on Sunday, July 21, at 4 pm. Visitation will be from 2-3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Christine’s memory to your local food bank. The Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland, is assisting the family with arrangements.
