Clara Mae Martin

Clara Mae (Yoder) Martin, 86, entered into her eternal rest on Friday, February 21, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at the Fairmount Retirement Home, Ephrata, PA.


Born February 11, 1928 in Arthur IL, she was the 12th of Noah C. and Eliza (Yoder) Yoder’s 13 children.


Clara Mae was the wife of the late George L. Martin who preceded her in death on November 25, 2003, one day shy of their 49th wedding anniversary.


She was a member of the Village Chapel Mennonite Church, Voganville.


Known for her gift of hospitality, Clara Mae also enjoyed gardening and her plants, sewing, playing games and in later years transporting her Amish friends.


Clara Mae loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The more at a gathering, the more she enjoyed it.


She is survived by her six children and their spouses: Elwood married to Nancy (Nye), New Holland; Kreta married to Brian Adair, Ephrata; George (Jr.) married to Linda (Horst), New Holland; Joyce married to Chris Kelley, Lancaster; Pastor Robert married to Sandra (Weaver), Morris Run; Silvanus married to Kay (Landis), East Earl; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Andrew Ray Yoder, Leonard, MO and a sister-in-law Vera Jane (Martin) married to Elvin Rohrer, Cochranville and many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by a grandson Travis Kelley and 11 siblings.


Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 26 at 10 a.m. at Fairmount Homes Farm Crest Chapel, 1100 Farm Crest Dr., Ephrata with Pastors Jeff Horst, Tom Philpot, and Lester Gehman officiating. Private interment in Weaverland Mennonite Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the Farm Crest Chapel on Tuesday from 6 – 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9 – 10 a.m. The Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland is in charge of arrangements.
