Clarence R. Krantz, 78, of 3854 Oak Lane, Gordonville, died Thursday, November 8, 2012, at Lancaster General Hospital after a short illness. He was the husband of Helen M. (James) Krantz with whom he celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary this past April.

Born in Ringtown, Pa., he was the son of the late Adam & Carrie Krantz. He has a daughter, Holly, married to John Hendricks, Jr. of Lititz, Pa, and a son, Gary of Gordonville. He also has two grandchildren, Allison and Katelyn; two brothers; Earl, married to Elsie of Pompton Lakes, NJ and John, married to Marie of Burlington, NC; a sister, Mabel Lorah of Shenendoah, Pa.; and a sister-in-law, Marie Krantz of Manville, NJ.

Preceding him in death are three brothers, George, Harry, and Roy Krantz; and a sister, Gertrude Krantz.

He graduated from Sheppton High School, Stevens Trade School (Machine Shop), and Wyomissing Poly-Technical School, now Penn State with a certificate in Engineering Technology. He served in the US Army as a Specialist 4th Class in Transportation, and received an honorable discharge in 1960. He worked 40 years at CNH. Approximately 15 years as a toolmaker, four years as a night shift supervisor in their tool room and approximately 21 years in Tool Design, where he retired in 1991. After that he served as a consultant, tour guide and helped in the Company store for another several years.

He served on the Leacock Twp., Planning Commission for a term and then was Chairman for two terms. He was a member of the former Zeltenreich UCC, now Zeltenreich Reformed Church and served on various boards such as: Missions, Christian Education, Auditing, Cemetery, Property, Finance, Constitution, and Usher. He also served as Secretary of Consistory and was President of Consistory for some 40 years. He was instrumental in making the layouts for our new Church addition, and for the new Cemetery addition. He also served as Deacon and Elder and an adult Sunday School Teacher for many years.

His hobbies included gardening, hunting, fishing, bowling, baseball, hiking, traveling, family games including volleyball and Rook, and he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 11 am at Zeltenreich Reformed Church, 752 Hollander Road, New Holland, PA 17557 with the Reverend Stephen Arrick and the Reverend Robert Glasgow officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Monday from 6-8 pm at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland and on Tuesday from 10-11 am at the Church.
