Clarence H. Martin

Clarence Hollinger Martin, 105, of Lititz, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 25,2025. He was the husband of the late Mary Eby Martin, who passed away in 2016, to whom he was married for 74 years. Born in Frogtown, Earl Township, Lancaster County on December 15, 1919, he was the son of Clayton and Anna Mary Hollinger Martin.

Clarence was a dairy farmer for 30 years in Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania. Later after moving to Neffsville, Pennsylvania, he worked as a sales rep for Hytest Seeds in Lancaster County. He was an active member of Blainsport Mennonite Church, and later a member of Neffsville Mennonite Church.

In 1998, the couple moved to Landis Homes Retirement Community, where Clarence spent many years volunteering with Ten Thousand Villages and within the Landis Homes community. He remained active, engaged, and generous with his time well into his later years.

Clarence is survived by his son Dale E. Martin (Jane Gast), son-in-law Melvin H. Thomas (Marie Thomas) and wife Geneva Rufenacht; three grandchildren: Audrey Myers (Jeff), Steven Thomas (Laura), and Christina Shifflett (Corey); and two great-grandchildren: Jacob Myers (Sapa) and Aaron Myers (Casey). He is also survived by a brother, Harold Hollinger Martin.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary and his daughter Marie Thomas.

Clarence deeply valued family, friends, and his church community. In retirement, he and Mary enjoyed traveling both domestically and abroad to visit family and friends, and to explore new places. He lived a rich, full life and will be remembered for his kindness, friendly nature, sense of humor, and dedication to his faith.

Clarence’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Landis Homes, especially those in the Birch Personal Care Unit, for their gentle and compassionate care during his final years.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Landis Homes High Auditorium in the Crossings, 1001 E Oregon Road, Lititz PA 17543. There will be a visitation held for one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Landis Homes Caring Fund, in honor of Clarence’s spirit of giving and community.

We are grateful for the 105 years Clarence shared with us. His love and legacy will live on in all who had the privilege to know him.

Groff High Funeral Home in New Holland is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
