Clayton G. Musser, 101, of Narvon, entered into rest at his home on June 5, 2017, after a brief illness.

Born in Bowmansville, he was the son of the late Joseph and Salome (Gehman) Musser. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle (Weinhold) Musser in March, 2009. They had been married 63 years.

Clayton is survived by one son, Fred, married to Tracey (Stauffer) Musser of Bowmansville; two grandchildren, Michael married to Hope Musser of Bowmansville, and Amanda (Musser) married to Al Janaszek of Lancaster; four great grandchildren, Emma Louise of Bowmansville, Mason Stanley Musser of Bowmansville, Evan Joseph Janaszek of Lancaster, and one on the way; one brother, Elmer Musser of Ephrata; two sisters, Elsie (Musser Bowman) Burkhart of Florida, and Eleanor (Musser) Hibshman of Narvon.

Preceding him in death are six brothers, William, Charles, Allen, John, Harvey and Victor; and a sister, Anna Mary Musser.

He was a member of the Ephrata Bible Fellowship Church, Ephrata. He grew up going to the Pine Grove Church in Bowmansville with his family.

Clayton lived in the Bowmansville area all his life except for the years 1963 to 1967 when they lived in Melbourne, FL.

He was drafted into the US Army in June 1942. He served with the Army for three years in Northern Africa and was part of the Casablanca Invasion in 1942. He loved to tell many heart-felt stories about his time serving in WWII.

Clayton worked as a meat butcher. He owned and operated “Musser Meats” stand at Kissinger Market in Reading. He was employed by John Martin Meats, Ephrata from 1967 until his retirement. He enjoyed carving wood and made many pitchforks as well as small carved chains and various other small implements.

A funeral service honoring Clayton’s life will be held on Friday, June 9 at 11 am at the Pine Grove Church, 1194 Reading Road, Bowmansville, PA. Interment will be held at the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Thursday at the Eckenroth Home for Funerals, 209 E. Main St., Terre Hill from 6-8 pm and on Friday at the Church from 10-11 am.
