Clifford P. Diem

Clifford P. Diem, 90, of Fetterville Road, East Earl, died Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Spruce Manor, West Reading. He was preceded in death by his wife Alverta M. (Sweigart) Diem in 2005.

Born in Mount Airy (Salisbury Twp.), he was the son of the late Newton and Mary (Simmons) Diem.

Clifford farmed the ABC Groff Farm 20 years in Goodville, and later 20 years for PennDOT, retiring in 1981. He also was a buyer of tobacco for R.D. Owens Tobacco for 31 years.

He is survived by his sons, Clifford P., Jr., married to Teresa (Buchanan) Diem, Robert C., married to Nancy (Sheaffer) Diem, and Clifton, Sr., “Jim”, married to Sherrie (Boley) Diem, all of East Earl; seven grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his sister Edna Kelly, and his brothers Lester and Harlan Diem.

His funeral will be held on Monday, April 7, at 10 a.m. at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland, with Pastor E. Clair Martin officiating. A viewing will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday from 9-10 a.m. Interment will be in Ranck’s U.M. Cemetery. Online condolences may be posted at www.groffeckenroth.com.
