Cynthia L. Shuman

Cynthia L. “Cindy” (Hess) Shuman, 53, of Gordonville, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016, after a brave battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of William G. Shuman, Jr., with whom she shared over 25 years of marriage.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of H. Lynn Hess of Reading and Thelma J. Althouse Hess of Intercourse. Cynthia worked as a driver for Lighthouse Vocational Services, New Holland. She enjoyed housekeeping, crossword and search-a-word puzzles, shopping, and spending time with her cat Meow-Meow. She will be remembered as a kind, giving person with a brilliant smile.

In addition to her husband and parents, “Poose” is survived by a brother, Brian L. Hess of New Holland, a mother-in-law, Nancy Shuman Schlossman of Leola, two sisters-in-law, Patty Frame, wife of Robert, of Lebanon, and Lynn Hiesiy, wife of Tom, of Lampeter, a stepbrother, Robert Charles Shuman of Quarryville, and a stepson, Derick Scott Wise.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Harold A. and Eleanor (Snyder) Hess, her maternal grandparents, Ross and Anna Mary (Chambers) Althouse, and her father-in-law, William G. Shuman, Sr.
