D. Martin Zimmerman, 90, of East Earl, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 1, 2012 at Fairmount Homes, Ephrata surrounded by his loving family.
Born in East Earl, he was the son of the late Harry H. and Mary (Martin) Zimmerman. His wife, Leila Sauder, died Jan. 18, 2008.
Martin was a dairy farmer and also was a real estate broker with Blue Ball Realty for over 40 years. He was a member of Lichty’s Mennonite Church.
He enjoyed his Florida vacation home and Potter County property. He also volunteered at Christian Aid Ministries and was a member of numerous farm organizations.
Surviving are six children, Eileen Weaver of Brownstown, Erla, married to Donald Nauman of Manheim, Loren, married to Helen (Eckman) Zimmerman of Hummelstown, Ruth, married to Ivan K. Martin of Denver, Laverne, married to Larry Eby of East Earl, and Dale, married to Barbara (Gross) Zimmerman of East Earl; 13 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; a sister, Kathryn Seibel of Ephrata; and a brother, Paul Zimmerman of Lititz.
Preceding him in death are two sisters, Edna and Clara Martin; a brother, Elmer Zimmerman; and a grandson, Brent Nauman.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 5 at 10:30 am at Lichty’s Mennonite Church, 1690 Union Grove Road, East Earl. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held at the Church on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and on Thursday from 9:30 – 10:30 am.
