Daniel Constantine

Daniel Constantine, 97, of New Holland, formerly of Jeannette, PA, died Friday, March 28, 2014 at Garden Spot Village after a lengthy illness.

Born in Jeannette, he was the son of Alfred and Anna (Degregorio) Constantine. He was married 71 years on June 18 to Anna M. (Pagare) Constantine.

Daniel and his wife owned and operated Constantine’s Clover Farm Store in Jeannette, PA after WWII from 1948 – 1960. He later worked for the USDA as a Federal Food Inspector until his retirement in the early 1980’s.

During WWII he served in the Army Air Corp and was a member of the New Holland American Legion. He enjoyed sailing, was a great cook and was known for his Italian Road Beef.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Linda, married to Pete Giovenco of Pittsburgh, and Susan, married to Jeffrey Wolgemuth of Mt. Joy; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers and a sister, Victor Constantine of Jeannette, Lillian Grbenick of Milton, and Edward Constantine of Pittsburgh.

Preceding him in death is a brother Anthony.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 3 at 2 pm at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA 17557 with Chaplain Chester Yoder officiating. Private interment will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Lancaster. The family will receive friends on Thursday at Garden Spot Village Chapel from 1-2 pm.
