Obituary

Daniel Joseph Sweeney was born in Hartford, CT on February 15, 1951, the son of the late William and Wanda Sweeney.

He graduated from George J. Penney High School then the Computer Processing Institute, where he discovered his love for all thing computer. He began his career as a Technical Consultant for a small company in 1986. During this time, he joined a golf league where he was lucky enough to shoot a hole in one, not once but twice! He also volunteered as a roving Marshall for more than 25 years at the Great Hartford Open in CT.

As his career advanced into larger companies and accepted a senior position with a company which allowed him to travel internationally, visiting many countries before his retirement in 2017.

Upon retirement, the Sweeney’s moved to Gordonville, PA, a beautiful town surrounded by farmland, crops, rolling hills and Amish buggies. Dan became active in their retirement community and served Watson Run Community, including as a treasurer and a member of the executive board. He made great friends, cared for many people and gave his time freely. Dan loved serving the community, but he eventually gave it up to travel. The great joy of Dan and Lynne’s retirement was cruising, particularly the Caribbean. They had just completed their 50th cruise.

Dan adored his Bichon Frise pup Jasper, and they could often be seen walking and strutting through the neighborhood collecting biscuits from the neighbors. Jasper would often be seen waiting patiently for treats at the end of some of his reliable neighbor’s driveways. He also enjoyed working in the yard, landscaping, planting, pruning, mulching, trimming and feeding his roses.

Dan died in a tragic accident on May 2, 206. He leaves his beloved wife, Lynne Huntington-Sweeney of 48 years and all the precious memories they created. Hopefully to meet again in Heaven. Anne C. Taylor of Port Orange, FL is his only sibling. He also leaves a brother-in-law, Jay Huntington, his wife Diana and his beloved niece Elena, with whom he spent many joyful times. Also, cousins, Susan and Michael McQuiggan, Debra and Robert Huntington, Church and Holly Dubs and Steven and Dyann Dube.

Rest in Heaven Dan, you are sorely missed here on earth.
