Darla F. Horning, 61, formerly of East Earl, went home to meet her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Fairmount Homes.
Born in Ephrata, she was the daughter of Mary Jane (Bowman) Horning of Ephrata and the late Marvin W. Horning.
Darla was employed by Garden Spot Village in the Central Kitchen for 22 years.
She was a member of Martindale Mennonite Church. She found joy in word find books, shopping at Ollie’s, eating Chick-fil-A, adult coloring books, reading her Bible and volunteering at the Material Resource Center of M.C.C. She found great joy being with her nieces and nephews and trips to the family cabin.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by three siblings: Jeanette married to Rick Klumpp, Narvon, John married to Joanna (Gehman) Horning, Denver, Steve married to Cheryl (Martin) Horning, Ephrata, a brother-in-law Jason Heft, Denver, 12 nieces and nephews and 15 great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lisa Heft.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Martindale Mennonite Church, 171 Hurst Rd., Ephrata with Pastors David Weber, Jay Reiff, and Dean Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m.. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Darla’s memory may be sent to Mennonite Central Committee, P. O. Box 500, Akron, PA 17501. The Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences and memories may be posted at www.groffeckenroth.com.
